With the weather finally breaking, the sun shining, and the days getting longer, we have quite a bit to celebrate in Western New York. While spring gives way to summer, happy days are here at last! (You know how that songs goes, right? Monday, Tuesday, Happy—well, you get it).
As always, there’s so much to see and do in Rochester and Buffalo. From birthdays, to weddings, to anniversaries, to capping off the work week with a Friday night out, here at Home we’re been out and about searching for every and any way to make the most of the time we have together.
Heading out? Make a day of it at Young Lion Brewing Company, a woman-owned business in Canandaigua. Their IPA is a surefire staple, but they have a whole slew of new releases to check out, too! Young Lion also plays host to a variety of private events in their loft, so consider them for your next lunch reception, banquet, or wedding reception.
Just down the road, Lincoln Hill Farms is also available to host your private or corporate event! With unique and rustic venues, both their pavilion and tent allow for stunning backdrops and moments to unwind as you enjoy the outdoors. Plus, they offer meals with their Smokehouse by Lincoln Hill Catering!
If you’re scooting back up north, The Farmhouse Brewery in Victor is another great spot to check out! Reserve their taproom today for a graduation party, bridal shower, or get a jump on your fantasy draft! (Football season is a ways away now, but it’ll be here before you know it!)
Wedding season is upon us, and you know what that means! Haven’t found that perfect venue just yet? No sweat! The Avon Inn has two ballrooms perfect for your big day. Offering fourteen boutique style hotel rooms, you and your guests have optimum places to stay over a wedding weekend. The Avon Inn is also perfect for smaller, more informal get togethers, so you and your guests can enjoy casual dining for a low-key anniversary.
Looking for the dress that’s just right for your special day or know a mother of the bride who hasn’t found one that speaks to her just yet? Under the Arbor Bridal has everyone covered, from bridesmaids to flower girls! Located in Fairport, the team offers luxury bridal at affordable prices and supports the entire bridal team in their search with their incredible collection.
If you’re in need of a floral vendor still (or just want to spruce up your living space!) Stacy K Floral in Rochester is the perfect spot. With their wide range of arrangements for any occasion, Stacy K’s team provides an array of flowers and gifts guaranteed to wow and add a burst of color that’s just right. Stop on by or browse their site for the perfect bridal bouquet or centerpieces for an upcoming baby shower — they offer both set pieces and a la carte selections!
Don’t worry, we’re not just focused on weddings! After a day of trying out local craft brews and checking out dresses, I’m pretty sure you’ve worked up some sort of appetite, right? Just up on the river in Corn Hill is Tony D’s, another great location to reserve a private event space, this time with pizza (plus wine and Italian food). Even if you’re not looking to host an event, Tony D’s is also perfect for a quiet night out with your special someone, a group of friends, or somewhere to go as a family for a Friday night out.
Heading southwest, Farmer’s Creekside Tavern & Inn in LeRoy offers both rooming and dining! Situated on the Oatka Creek, Creekside hosts a variety of suites and a menu perfect for an anniversary weekend getaway. Need a place to hold a family reunion? Look no further than their event space with waterfront views! (Keep an eye out for their upcoming holiday events as well!)
If we cruise down along the canal, Buffalo also offers its own unique ways to make the most of your celebration! Black Willow Winery features local wines, meads, and artisan oils and vinegars. Celebrate a girls’ day with either their wine and cheese pairings or wine and chocolate pairings, or let them transform their winery grounds into the perfect backdrop for your reception!
If you’re looking for the perfect venue for your big day while you’re in town, why not take a peek at Poplar Hill Estate? The sprawling picturesque site features a number of amenities to reduce stress for everyone involved in the wedding party! Heck, cut that stress in half and host both the ceremony and reception all in one place—and take your photos there, too!
Don’t forget to celebrate you! Nickel City Spa in Buffalo lets you take a moment to decompress and destress with their skincare services. Book an appointment for a facial or pedicure, or bring a friend as a fun birthday gift. Take a moment to check out their lines of skin care products that make perfect gifts, whether for someone else or for yourself. Mind & Body Massage also has you covered with their therapeutic message options—a deep tissue massage might be just what you need after a long week, or a prenatal massage can make a great baby shower gift for a mom to be!
Located on Main Street in Amherst, Spruce is your one-stop shop for all sorts of home décor, apparel, and accessories for everyone and their mother (literally!). Their Buffalove collection is perfect for anyone whose heart belongs to the Queen City, whether it’s a City of Good Neighbors tea towel or some adorable Buffalo earrings! Other unique offerings come from Buffalo Gift Emporium in Tonawanda with their hometown gear and novelties collections!
Playing host for a young one whose creativity is off the charts or looking for a birthday celebration that’s a little different? Orange Poppy Art Studio provides inspiration and workshops for all ages! Their birthday packages (aptly called Art Celebrations) are perfect for little ones who love to create. Book a get together in-studio or have them come to you! Not hosting a kid’s party? No worries, they also welcome you to bring in a group of friends to celebrate or just because you can!
At Home we want you to celebrate every occasion with as little hassle as possible. Penny Lane Printing can help take a bunch of weight off of your shoulders with their “we do that, too!” mantra. From birthday invites, graduation party announcements and save the dates, their design work is sure to wow. Plus, they also offer mailing services to cut back on the hand cramps of filling out addresses—all you need are the stamps!
After a day of sipping, dining, and event planning your way across Western New York, sometimes the best way to cap it off is by unwinding and reflecting on your local travels. Whether it was a birthday, an anniversary, or a night spent out with friends, sometimes the most important part of your celebration is who you spend it with. Here at Home, we’ve got you covered.
Oh happy day indeed!
