Beautiful Buffalo

North Buffalo artist Casey Milbrand has been painting murals throughout the beautiful city for the past 10 years. However, he has been an artist for much longer. Casey has been drawing since he was a kid, yet he sees himself as an ideas person, showcasing the beauty and history of Buffalo through his artwork.

Growing up, Casey loved many things about Buffalo, including the rooftop of his high school building with its view of the entirety of Buffalo and the beautiful city skyline. Casey also enjoyed bowling as well as spending time at his family’s cottage on Lake Erie, the Botanical Gardens, an abandoned train station, and parks in Buffalo. Now, Casey can be found scouring new coffee shops and enjoying pho at Vietnamese restaurants across the Queen City.

After earning both his Bachelor’s and his Masters degrees, Casey started his own company: Casey Milbrand Design, Inc. Although he works on sculptures and illustrations, his main focus is his mural work. His first outdoor mural, “Greetings from Buffalo,” can be found across from the Buffalo Downtown Market. In 2017, it earned him the Preservation Buffalo Niagara People’s Choice Award.

Casey is currently working on a mural called, “Let Hope Shine Through” at Family Promise of Western New York, a local homeless shelter. He hopes to put the mural design on a t-shirt to sell and raise money for the shelter once it’s complete. Casey loves Buffalo and believes his art is a gift that allows him to keep on giving to the city and those within it.

Continuing to decorate the city of Buffalo with his artwork, Casey hopes passersby feel the emotions and self-expression attached to each mural. A self-taught painter and full-time artist, he credits his parents as inspiration and the people in Buffalo for pushing him to continue his work.
