At The Nail Room, every appointment is designed to be more than just a beauty service. Located in Rochester's Neighborhood of the Arts, the luxury nail salon has built its reputation on exceptional care, expert craftsmanship, and genuine hospitality, creating a place where guests can slow down, relax, and leave feeling refreshed and confident.

Founded and owned by Rochester native Amber Peraino, The Nail Room has evolved from a one-woman operation into a thriving salon staffed by a talented team of nail professionals. The salon's mission is simple yet meaningful: to provide a safe, welcoming environment where every guest receives outstanding service and feels truly cared for.

For Peraino, that feeling of connection is personal. The Nail Room is, in many ways, a reflection of the woman who built it—the things she loves, the way she wants women to feel, and the little details she believes can make an experience memorable.

As she recently shared, her world has never fit neatly into one box. It's raising babies and building businesses, loving vintage jewelry with a story, cooking something that tastes even better because it looks pretty, listening to ‘90s music a little too loudly, watching trends while still loving the classics, and embracing the changing seasons. And, of course, it's really good nails.

Today, The Nail Room has become a destination for luxury nail care, earning Rochester Community Choice Awards two years in a row and attracting a loyal clientele that includes many of the region’s businesswomen and entrepreneurs. The salon is especially known for its Russian-style e-file manicures and dry pedicures, techniques that emphasize precision, natural nail health, and long-lasting results. Through ongoing education and advanced training, the team continually refines its skills while maintaining sterilization standards that exceed New York State requirements.

Peraino brings two decades of experience in the beauty industry to her business. During her career, she has worked with celebrity clients, educated fellow nail professionals, and developed advanced techniques in natural nail care. After spending seven years in Austin, Texas, she says she “felt called to bring everything I had learned back home to create something different—a salon centered on education, hospitality, and genuine connection.”

A Business Built Around People

As both a mother and business owner, Peraino says The Nail Room represents far more than beautiful nails. It’s about creating opportunities for women, helping beauty professionals build rewarding careers, and fostering a culture where employees and guests alike feel appreciated.

That people-first philosophy continues to inspire her every day.

“Watching a guest leave feeling more confident than when they arrived is incredibly rewarding. But what inspires me just as much is watching our team grow.”

She says seeing technicians gain confidence, develop loyal clientele, and achieve goals they once believed were out of reach reminds her why she started the business. Hospitality, she adds, has always been just as important as the services themselves.

“Creating meaningful experiences for people is what keeps me excited every day,” she says.

One of Peraino’s proudest milestones came when she realized The Nail Room had become something bigger than herself. Seeing clients confidently schedule appointments with any member of the team—not just one technician—demonstrated that they had built a trusted brand and a positive salon culture rather than simply a successful business.

Motherhood, Dreams & Finding Balance

And while building a business and raising a family can sometimes feel like two full-time jobs competing for the same hours, Peraino has come to see them as intertwined rather than separate.

“For a long time, I thought balance was something I would eventually figure out,” she says. She once imagined becoming the kind of woman who could give 100% to motherhood, 100% to her business, keep a beautiful home, make dinner, answer every email, remember spirit week, and somehow still have time to wash her hair. “Turns out, that woman does not exist,” she says.

What she has found instead is something she values more: a life where her babies grow alongside her dreams. “Some days, motherhood gets more of me. Some days, the business does. Most days, they’re beautifully tangled together.”

That perspective has become an important part of how she approaches both motherhood and entrepreneurship.

Raising the Standard

The salon’s emphasis on education benefits guests as much as its staff. Every technician participates in continuous professional development to stay current with the latest techniques, products, and fashion trends while helping clients achieve healthier, stronger natural nails.

Peraino says one of the team’s greatest rewards is hearing guests marvel at the results, often saying,“I can’t believe these are my real nails.”

Growth continues to be a focus this year. Peraino says The Nail Room has expanded its team, increased appointment availability, updated pricing to make luxury nail care more accessible, and introduced additional guest amenities intentionally designed to elevate every visit.

The salon is also investing heavily in  education through team development, industry workshops, community collaborations, and seasonal offerings throughout the year.

Looking ahead, Peraino says the company’s goal is to continue raising the standard within the nail industry by combining advanced technical education with an elevated guest experience. The salon also remains committed to creating career opportunities for beauty professionals while ensuring every guest enjoys a consistent luxury experience regardless of which technician they see.

Community Over Competition

Beyond the salon, The Nail Room actively supports the Rochester community. They partner with local businesses, wellness professionals, and community organizations across the area, participate in local events, and contribute gift certificates and services to charitable fundraisers. The salon also collaborateswith nonprofit organizations and supports initiatives that empower women and strengthen the local community.

The Luxury Is in the Experience

As The Nail Room continues to grow, its commitment to hospitality remains unchanged. “We believe luxury isn’t about exclusivity—it’s about how you’re treated. Every guest deserves to feel welcomed, respected, and cared for from the moment they walk through our doors.”

At The Nail Room, Peraino says, “We’re redefining what a nail appointment can be.”
