What could be better than sharing a great glass of wine with friends? Making it with them, too!
Award-winning home winemakers, Tom Raco and Tony Toscano, will guide you through the winemaking process, from freshly-picked grapes to a unique, signature wine. Spend a bright autumn afternoon picking grapes at a local Finger Lakes vineyard, watching your harvest pressed into juice, or choosing fresh pressed, never concentrated juices from other popular winemaking locations such as California, Chile, Australia and Italy. Then, meet at the Wineworx cellar in Rochester where Tom and Tony will walk you through the measurements, ingredients, and adjustments for the chemistry to begin the fermentation process.
Once the initial process is complete, you will return to move your wine from its fermenting container to an aging container. Twice more over the year-long process, you will “rack” your wine from one vessel to another to remove any leaf bits, fragments, and yeast which may have settled. Finally when your wine will be ready to be bottled, Tony and Tom will teach you how to bottle and cork your signature wine. Your handcrafted wine is ready to gift or enjoy—all for around $10 a bottle.
Wineworx’ hands-on, immersive experience allows you to fully engage with your wine, sampling it every step of the way, appreciating its development as it evolves into a one-of-a-kind artisanal vintage. Create on your own or share the process with friends and family for a fun, educational, and delicious experience. Either way, you will have the opportunity to tailor your wine to your unique taste with options for sulfides, juice varieties, and to decide whether your wine will be dry, sweet or anywhere in between.
When you finish, you have bragging rights, wine you made with your own hands, and great memories—not to mention a better understanding of the process! In fact, some of the customers have submitted their wine to amateur winemaking competitions, both regional and national, and have won gold and silver medals. From college students to senior citizens, couples and groups to singles, people everywhere are discovering the joy of home winemaking. We use ASL in our deaf-friendly environment.
