Effortless Skin Care Routine

Let’s be honest, 2020 had its highs and lows and brought waves of inconsistency in all of our lives, but one thing that should always remain constant is self-care. Taking care of your skin all year-round is so important, and with the seasons changing your skincare routine may need to adjust along with it. Here are some tips to get your skin ready for Spring and to keep that healthy glow going year-round.

Protect

Let’s start with the basics. The healthiest possible skin is not going to come from an expensive night cream, but from the things we hear over and over again that all too easily get lost in our daily habits. We all know how important it is to protect our skin from the sun, however, this shouldn’t just be on Summer days when we’re expecting to be outside a lot. It’s a great idea to make sunscreen a part of your daily routine no matter what time of year it is. There are so many great products out there that incorporate SPF into moisturizers and makeup and won’t make you feel like you’ve got a face full of thick cream all day long.

Hydrate

Secondly, the amount of water we intake will directly affect the way our skin looks and feels on a daily basis. Keeping a bottle next to you at all times is a great reminder to stay up on your hydration throughout the day. If you’re someone who really has trouble remembering to hydrate, try reusable bottles with markers telling you where you should be on your consumption at each hour!

Clean

Whether you’re the kind of person who wears a face full of makeup on a daily basis or who likes to keep it a little more simple, it’s crucial to go to bed with a clean face every night. When you cleanse your face, not only are you removing products, but you’re also getting rid of all the impurities it has taken on throughout the day. This will also give you a fresh palate for your skin to soak up any products that may be part of your nighttime routine! It’s also a great idea to find something that will help exfoliate your skin at least a couple of times a week.

Moisturize

There’s nothing more irritating than having dry skin or chapped lips. The colder months especially can really do a number on our skin, which is why everyone should find a good moisturizer to use both morning and night. The neck is a part of the body that often gets overlooked when it comes to skincare, so be sure to apply your moisturizer to this area as well! Keeping a travel size lotion on you throughout the day can be really helpful. It’s also a great idea to use some sort of hydrating face spray that can refresh and perk up your skin when it’s feeling dull and dry. If your skin is feeling in need of a mid-week pick-me-up, using some sort of face mask once a week is an excellent way to hydrate and give yourself a moment of pampering!

In need of some skincare that won’t break the bank?

Try this mask that includes just four basic ingredients to nourish your skin and give you a healthy looking glow. In a bowl mix ½ mashed banana, 1 tbsp honey, 1 tbsp orange juice and ½ tsp turmeric. Leave on for 15-20 minutes, rinse and moisturize afterwards. This DIY mask is super easy and will leave your skin feeling alive and glowing!
